FREEDOM was directed and produced by French-Malaysian duo Julien Drolon and Zara Shafie.
Julien Drolon is a French convert, former International reporter and singer songwriter. After many years of research on the topic of religion, Julien embraced Islam online in the Philippines in 2012. Since then, he has been involved in many philanthropic projects including New Muslim Care, which caters to converts after their Shahada. Julien is the business development director of an agro business company that offers investment opportunities in Asia.
Zara Shafie(Drolon), a Malaysian mother of three boys who holds a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering. She was a former professional soprano/jazz/musical singer but after she rediscovered Islam in 2013, she left the performing industry. She worked as an event manager for major oil & gas events previously and had later left the corporate world to volunteer in charity projects.
